I wanted to draw an objective painting. The climate of public opinion was that, subjective paintings are art. This often caters to the period or one's own self satisfaction and often within an area of a person's liking or the group that he/she belongs to. When people watched plants, mountains or rivers as they were and just painted them, it created original paintings which wouldn't even be noticed by a painter. Rodin expressed it well. " Don't be afraid to draw what you see. For humans we draw from the eyes to the hands, from the eyes to the hearts". Van Gogh said "I want to draw without any artistic consideration like a shoe maker makes shoes".
