- Kinzan Pass in verdant green - 41x27cm 2009 (Shimukappu)

I always thought here was a great view whenever I had driven past, I tried to find out the best composition for a painting.

It was hard to find a good composition. It had been 10 years or so since I first drove past here. I noticed that there was an old road or a steep path through the forest. I walked through the rough pass and I could see the outline of the mountains behind the white birch in verdant green. I picked up a stick to lay down the tall weeds, I pulled out ivy from trees and I made some space to paint.
